All day, would-be shoe shoppers were writing to the company about ongoing glitches that seemed to be affecting the desktop site and a mobile app. In response, Zappos wrote that it was working on the problem and would post when everything was fixed.

The problems might stem from an overload of users attempting to use a $25 discount from T-Mobile. This Tuesday Zappos was offering a discount through that company's weekly #tmobiletuesdays promotion. Many users reported problems checking out and using the discount code. So now T-Mobile is getting the brunt of people's online shopping anger, too.

UPDATE Dec. 20 3:17 PM PT:Zappos said in a statement to Mashablethat the site issues have been resolved:
We should be back up and good to go. We've noticed customer demand increasing later and closer to the holiday with customers taking advantage of our fast/free shipping. We received an unexpected spike today and that caused the issue with our site. We apologize for the inconvenience this caused our customers but have no fear! Our cutoff to receive gifts by Christmas with free shipping is Thursday the 22nd at 1pm PST. We are ready to handle the last minute rush and don’t expect any more delays with our site.
